What is Barking Mad Yorkshire’s dog sitting service?
Barking Mad Yorkshire is a dog home boarding, or dog sitting service that makes a great alternative to kennels. With us, your dog will be treated as a VID (very important dog!) and will benefit from an individual care plan. Each pup we look after stays in a family home with a doggy ‘host’, and enjoys a holiday all of their own, even sending you pawlaroid postcards of all the fun they’re having! You can find your local Barking Mad Yorkshire dog sitter here.

Three of the best dog-friendly spots in Yorkshire, according to our dog sitting experts
At Barking Mad, we’re lucky to hear about all the fantastic places our hosts walk the pooches they care for – and God’s Own Country definitely has its fair share of beautiful spots.
Here, we take a look at the top three Yorkshire-based places to visit with your pup, according to our hosts.
Robin’s Hood’s Bay is a quaint old fishing village on the Heritage Coast of the North York Moors, bursting with dog-friendly pubs, shops and restaurants. Whether you walk along a stunning coastal route or go on a country bike ride with Fido at your side, you certainly won’t be short of superb scenery and things to do.
The small town of Haworth in the City of Bradford is a great dog-friendly place to visit. From its rolling hills and greenery, to its pedestrianised, twisty lanes, it offers plenty of opportunity to soak up the scenery. What’s more, if you’re into all things literary, you’ll be pleased to know Haworth is internationally famous for its connection with the Bronte sisters who were born and raised in the area.
Pateley Bridge is a bustling market town in Nidderdale, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With its oldy worldly feel, lush green pastures and dog-friendly places to stay, it’s a great Yorkshire location to visit with your dog. Situated on the River Nidd, Pateley Bridge and the surrounding areas offer quaint countryside walks that offer plenty of adventure and more. In particular, our Yorkshire-based dog sitters are fans of the River Nidd Waterside Walk, which offers your pooch the chance to paddle in the river and roam free in the pastures.
Overall, there are hundreds of great dog-friendly spots in Yorkshire – the only hard part is narrowing down the list! Some of the others the team at Barking Mad Yorkshire think you should check out include Ingleton, in North Yorkshire, Otley Chevin, near Leeds, and Runswick Bay in North Yorkshire.
