About Me: My Background in Local Dog Boarding

Hello, I’m Louise, and I am passionate about providing the very best care for your beloved four-legged friends. At Barking Mad, we specialise in one-to-one dog home boarding and dog sitting in Kidderminster and the surrounding areas, including Worcester, Droitwich, Stourbridge, Hagley, Malvern, Bromsgrove, Hereford, Ross-on-Wye, Alvechurch, Leominster and Ludlow.

I have called Kidderminster home for most of my life, where I live with my playful miniature Dachshund, Solo. My love for dogs began at a young age with our family Border Collie cross, and I’ve never looked back. Solo has become my priority and my joy, and I know you feel the same about your furry friend.

I believe that dogs are more than pets—they’re family. That’s why we go above and beyond to ensure your dog receives the care, attention and love they deserve while you’re away. Whether you’re planning a weekend trip, a long holiday, or just need someone to look after your dog for the day, we’re here to provide a home-from-home experience.

Unlike kennels, where dogs can often feel stressed or overwhelmed by noisy and unfamiliar surroundings, our service provides a calm and loving environment. By matching your dog with a wonderful host family who will follow their daily routines, provide plenty of cuddles, and treat them like one of their own, we create an environment where your dog can truly thrive. There’s no need for your pet to compete for attention—they’ll receive one-to-one care and all the affection they deserve.

With a focus on individual care, we tailor each experience to meet the unique needs of your dog. From their favourite food to their preferred walk times, every detail is taken into account to ensure they feel at home. My goal is to make sure both you and your dog feel completely at ease, so you can enjoy your time away knowing they’re in safe hands.

Whether your dog is staying with one of our carefully selected host families or receiving care in your home, I’m here to make sure their holiday is just as special as yours!

Why Choose Barking Mad Dog Care?

Here’s why our services are the perfect alternative to kennels:

– Home-from-Home Boarding: Your dog will stay with carefully selected host families in a safe, loving environment. They’ll receive all the attention, affection, and care they’re used to at home.

– One-to-One Dog Sitting: Your dog will never be boarded with dogs from other homes, ensuring they receive undivided attention. Hosts follow your dog’s daily routines, making them feel secure and comfortable.

– Tailored Dog Care: From special diets to medications and extra cuddles, we ensure your dog’s unique needs are fully met.

– Regular Updates: We know how much you miss your dog while you’re away. That’s why we send regular photos and updates, so you know they’re happy and well-cared-for.

How Does Dog Home Boarding Work?

1. Registration Meeting: We visit you at home to get to know your dog’s personality, needs, likes and dislikes. This helps us tailor a bespoke care plan.

2. Careful Matching: Your dog is matched with one of our loving host families who best suit their needs and personality.

3. Trial Stay: Before your holiday, we organise a “getting to know you” stay where your dog and their host can bond and familiarise themselves with their new surroundings.

4. Seamless Transportation: We chauffeur your dog to and from their holiday home, ensuring they’re completely settled in. We’ll send you a photo and message to let you know they’re happy and safe.

Dog Kennel Alternative: Stress-Free Time Away

We understand how difficult it can be to leave your dog, which is why our mission is to make the experience as stress-free as possible for both you and your pet. Whether you’re heading off on holiday, a work trip, or attending a one-off event, you can relax knowing your dog is in loving, experienced hands.

Unlike traditional kennels, which can leave dogs feeling stressed and overwhelmed by the noise and unfamiliarity, our service offers an alternative to kennels in Kidderminster and surrounding areas. We carefully match your dog with a loving host family who will replicate their daily routines, shower them with cuddles, and welcome them as part of the family. With our one-to-one care approach, your pet won’t need to compete for attention—they’ll enjoy all the affection and personalised care they deserve, ensuring they feel happy, safe, and truly at home.

Barking Mad is here to ensure your dog’s stay is as special and enjoyable as yours!

Kidderminster Dog Boarding FAQs

Why Choose Barking Mad Over Kennels?

Unlike traditional kennels, our service provides a home-from-home environment for your dog, ensuring they feel relaxed and loved in a family setting. Your dog will stay with one of our carefully selected host families, where they’ll enjoy one-to-one attention and a personalised routine that mirrors their life at home. There’s no stress from unfamiliar surroundings, noise, or other animals, which makes our service an ideal choice for dogs that thrive on comfort, familiarity and individual care.

What is home-from-home dog boarding?

Home-from-home dog boarding means that your dog stays with a carefully vetted host family who provides a loving and comfortable environment, replicating the care they would receive at home, ensuring personalised attention, a familiar routine and plenty of cuddles.

How do you match my dog with a host?

We take the time to meet you and your dog before boarding. We consider your dog’s personality, preferences and routines to find the perfect host. After matching, we arrange a trial sleepover to ensure your dog feels comfortable and happy in their new surroundings.

Are the host families trained and vetted?

Absolutely! All our host families undergo a rigorous vetting process, including checks for insurance and licensing. Additionally, I am currently studying for my Animal Welfare Diploma and pursuing qualifications in Animal Behaviour and Training to ensure the highest standard of care.

What happens if my dog has special needs or requires medication?

We are committed to providing individualised care for all dogs, including those with special needs or those requiring medication. Please share any specific requirements with us during our initial meeting, and we will ensure that your dog receives the necessary care and attention.

Can I get updates on my dog while I’m away?

Yes! During your dog’s stay, you will receive regular “pup-dates” from the host family. They will share photos and updates about your dog’s activities, ensuring you feel connected and reassured while you’re away.

Do you offer dog sitting services for short stays?

Yes, we offer flexible dog sitting services, including short stays. Please contact us to discuss your specific needs, and we can create a bespoke package for you.

Is there a minimum stay requirement?

Yes, there is a minimum boarding charge of 2 nights/3 days for both regular and trial stays following registration.

How do I register my dog for boarding?

To register your dog, please contact us to schedule an initial meeting. This will allow us to get to know you and your dog better, and from there, we can discuss the registration process.
