This 164 acre, Green Flag awarded park is just five miles outside of Yeovil and offers a diverse landscape of woodlands, grasslands and meadows. Whether you opt for a flat, short walking route or one that’s longer and more rugged, there’s more than enough to fill you with delight and keep your pup’s tail wagging. What’s more, once a year there’s the Ham Hill Country Park Fun Dog Show, where your pooch can claim a title all of his or her own.

  1. West Somerset Railway, Minehead

The West Somerset Railway is dog-friendly, and for a flat rate of £2, Fido can get his or her own ticket. Like you, they can enjoy the breathtaking scenery from the class and comfort of an authentic steam locomotive, before making some exciting pitstops at places like Crowcombe, the ancient harbour town Watchet, as well as Dunstar Village.

  1. Cheddar Gorge, Cheddar

At almost 400ft deep and 3 miles long, this spot claims the title of the ‘largest gorge in England.’ With its specialised plants, wonderful wildlife and weathered crags, it really is an exhilarating four-mile circular walk for you and Fido.

  1. Weston Big Wood, Portishead

Offering the perfect doggie adventure, Weston Big Wood is rich in wildlife. During the spring, the wood is filled with flowers like bluebells, anemones and violets, and birds like tawny owls and woodpeckers can be spotted.
