Sefton Park is a dog walking paradise and is classified as a Grade I listed park by English Heritage. The park boasts over 200 acres of park, a boating lake, interesting statues and a cafe, so there’s fun for the whole family here. And if you visit Sefton Park in the spring, your four-legged friend will be able to frolic and soar through fields of bluebells and daffodils – what fun!
With hundreds of acres of woodland and miles and miles of sandy beach, Formby is the ideal place to walk your dog – come rain or shine. Whether you pack up a picnic and enjoy the sea breeze or opt to park up at one of the woodland’s picnic areas, Formby offers a grand day out for the whole family, Fido included.
Set in 121 acres of greenery, Newsham Park is a fantastic place to take the family. With fine period architecture, a fishing lake, a playground, an action sports hub and a cricket club, you and Fido certainly won’t be short of things to do. The Park also has an itinerary of special events, some of which welcome your pup with open paws, which you can find out about on the Council’s website.
A haven of tranquility, Otterspool Park is a great riverside walk in the Aigburth and Grassendale districts of Liverpool. The Promenade runs along the bank of the River Mersey to Otterspool Park, and ends up at the Albert Dock. A relatively flat walk, this is an ideal spot for smaller or older dogs who still like to go out and explore the world. When you’ve had enough adventuring, The Smugglers Cove at the Albert Dock is a quaint little dog-friendly pub where you can fill up on some grub and enjoy a drink.
With 72 acres of lowland heath, Hesswall Dales offers beauty and adventure in equal measure. It is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a local nature reserve, and on a clear day offers views of the Dee Estuary and over the River Dee to the Clwydian Hills of Wales.
