Dog-friendly Essex

Essex has so much to offer dogsfrom walks to get tails wagging to an abundance of vets, pet shops and more, it really has everything you might need when you have a furry-friend.

Here, we take a closer look at the top three areas of dog-friendly Essex.

  1. Beautiful beaches – One of our favourite Essex beaches is the one at West Mersea. Peaceful, serene and boasting golden shores, it really is Essexs jewel in the crown. And if you fancy a bite to eat, look no further than the lip-smackingly good Oyster Bar or Company Shed, who serve up a huge range of local seafood. Some other dog-friendly Essex beaches we like include Canvey Island at Thorney Bay, Irlams Beach in Tendring and Osea Island Beach in the Blackwater Estuary.
  2. Wonderful walks – Essex has so many fantastic dog walking spots that narrowing them down is tricky! But some particularly good locations for adventures with your pooch include: Hylands Park in Chelmsford, which boasts 574 acres of parks and woodland, Danbury Country Park in Danbury, Weald Country Park in Brentford and Cudmore Grove Country Park in East Mersea.
  3. Dog-friendly pubs – Some might say theres nothing nicer than retiring to an old country pub with the pooch after a long walk. Whether you fancy a beverage or bite to eat, youll be pleased to know that a great selection of Essex pubs welcome dogs with open paws. Just a selection include The Travellers Friend in Epping Green, The Finchingfield Lion, Finchingfield, The Victory, on Mersea Island, which is just ten minutes from West Mersea Beach, and The Queens Head in Maldon.
