  1. Putsborough Beach, North Devon 

 

This lusciously long beach is perfect for a game of fetch, thanks to its long stretching coastline. With three miles of clean, golden sands, rock pools and a fantastic surf, this beach is ideal for you. You can kick back and relax while your four-legged friend enjoys the space on offer. Putsborough is on the south side of Woolacombe, and because it’s further away from the hotels, shops and cafes in the area, it’s quieter than other beaches in the area. It’s important to note however that dogs are only permitted here from October to April. 

 

  1. Victorian Cliff Railway, Lynmouth to Lynton

 

If you’re looking for a fun day out for the whole family, why not try the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway? This water-powered funicular railway joins the towns of Lynton and Lynmouth on the rugged coast of North Devon. Providing your pooch is on a lead and strapped in, he or she can ride too! And when you get to Lynmouth, you and your dog can stretch your legs on the shingle beach at Lynmouth. Lynmouth Beach is surrounded by breathtaking scenery, spectacular cliffs, hills and woodlands. 

 

  1. A pint with your pooch

 

After a long day of exploring, there’s often nothing better than finding a good old traditional pub and settling down with a nice drink amongst idyllic scenery. Our hosts have shared their top dog-friendly pubs in Devon, which include: The Cary Arms at Babbacombe Bay, The Victoria Inn at Salcombe, The Travellers Rest at Whitestone and The Devon Arms in Torquay. Whichever pub you choose for your pitstop, you’re guaranteed to benefit from outstanding views and a friendly and welcoming approach to dogs. 

 

4.Canonteign Falls 

 

Canonteign Falls is home to England’s highest man-made waterfalls and is set in the beautiful Teign Valley. Nestled in over 90 acres of ancient woodland, it makes a picturesque andtranquil day out for the whole family. Whether you choose to release your inner child on the woodland trails, or have a go on the assault course, there’s certainly more than enough for you to do as well as for your dog to have a jolly old time! After exploring Canonteign Falls, you canrelax on the courtyard cafe, or visit the shop which specialises in selling artisan gifts. Dogs are welcome both inside and out – but must be kept on a lead at all times. 

 

5.  Castles 

 

Although your pup might not be longing to learn about the rich cultural history of Devonthey will still appreciate everything on offer. Devon is home to anumber of castles which are bursting with history and fantastic to look at too. Some of our favourites include the castles at: Dartmouth, Totnes, Okehampton, and Berry Pomeroy.
