The Cheshire countryside is doggy heaven!
Barking Mad Cheshire is a dog home boarding service and a great alternative to boarding kennels. With us, your dog will be treated as a VID (very important dog!) They will have their very own care plan ensuring all of his or her needs are met. Each furry friend we look after stays in a family home with a doggy ‘host’, and enjoys a holiday all of their own. They even send you pup-arazzi postcards of all the fun they’re having! You can find your local Barking Mad Cheshire dog sitter here.
If you’re a dog lover but can’t have one of your own, you might be considering becoming a host dog sitter. And why wouldn’t you want to look after animals you love, all in your own space? If you are dog-loving and caring, with plenty of time to devote to doggy guests, becoming a Barking Mad host might just be for you. There are many fantastic dog walks in Cheshire
Bringing the countryside one step closer to the city, The Countess of Chester Country Park is a fantastic spot for dog owners and families alike. From peaceful spots to unwind and explore, to totem poles, platforms and boardwalks, you can be sure that it offers something for everyone. The Park is often a hit for anyone looking for a pretty picnic spot, and is open all year round.
Parkgate offers tremendous views across the internationally recognised Dee Estuary towards the Welsh Hills. It provides a superb setting for an interesting and gentle walk. The town was once a bustling port but despite the ships now being a distant memory, some of the infrastructure remains. The walk follows the line of the old sea wall. Then it moves inland over a disused railway line. It’s bursting with wild foliage, offering the perfect opportunity for Fido to go exploring. Finally, if you wander back to the Parade, you can treat yourself with a bite to eat and a hot drink.
With a rocky crag and breathtaking views, Beeston Castle is one of the ‘most dramatically sited medieval castles in England’, according to English Heritage. Although your pup might not be interested in the Castle’s 4,000 year history, they are sure to enjoy the 4-acre woodland park. This space has plenty of adventure to offer. When the skies are clear, you can even see all the way from the Pennines to the Welsh mountains. As a result, this is both interesting and stunning in equal measure.
Caldy Nature Park is a quaint area of natural wetland, woodland and meadow. This space is situated very close to the centre of Chester. It’s fantastic whether your canine chum fancies a lazy afternoon basking in the flowery meadows or a paddle in the brook. To sum up, all this makes a great dog walking spot not too far from town.
One of the most popular treks in Cheshire is Delamere Forest, on the Sandstone Trail. This is a beautiful place for a walk that your dog will love too. With its sandy paths, twisty trails and nearly 1000 hectares of coniferous woodland, there are six colour–coded routes to suit all abilities. There are also cycle tracks and wheelchair accessible paths. So, whether you fancy a short stroll or something a bit more hearty, this dog walking route won’t disappoint.

“Excellent service, the thorough assessment of my pet ensured her routine and day to day habits and needs could be well met. She had a trial stay which seemed to go well and has just returned from her longer holiday with her host. She looks really well and has settled back home with no problems at all. I felt really confident that Barking Mad understood how difficult it is to leave a loved pet and made it as easy as possible for me to go away and enjoy my holiday without worrying and found a good match for my dog. The added transportation of your pet to their host makes things really easy too.”
