This October has been renamed ‘Dogtober’, as dog lovers everywhere are being encouraged to support inspirational charity Dogs for Good in their quest to transform lives! At Barking Mad Dog Care we were very excited to learn about this fantastic initiative and were eager to get involved, after all a month with a doggy theme – what’s not to like? We are very proud to be official supporters of such a wonderful concept.
Dogs for Good, formerly known as Dogs for the Disabled, explain:
“October is Dogtober! It’s time to celebrate the incredible things that happen when you bring people and dogs together. The potential to do more good is extraordinary but as a small charity, we need your help to increase funds. Let’s make Dogtober the most fun month of the year!”
This innovative charity trains dogs to help children and adults with all sorts of challenges, including autism, physical disabilities, special educational needs and dementia. Every penny raised during Dogtober will help to explore ways in which dogs can enrich and improve lives and communities.
At Barking Mad, we see the beneficial and often therapeutic results of simply spending time with a lovely dog on a daily basis, through operating our leading dog sitting service throughout the UK. Our Managing Director, Lee Dancy enthuses:
“Time and time again we see the emotional and physical effects that dogs have on the members of our host community, who care for our doggy guests whilst their owners are away. These beautiful canine creatures give so much to their human companions on a completely unconditional basis.
It is our understanding of the benefits of dog companionship which has led us to become official supporters of Dogtober and we’d love everyone to join in and have fun whilst raising funds for this fantastic cause.”
You can look out for local Dogtober events near you, including chatty coffee mornings, woodland walks and even pupcake sales, or if you would like more information about holding your own event, or would like to simply find out more you can click here.
